"Valley
of the Giants" Rainforest Hike
Discover the enchanting
world of our Caribbean Coast Rainforest on a moderate hiking adventure
into our islands biggest river system, at Wingfield River Valley, which
will also include a side trip to visit Pre-Colonial Indian Rock Carvings
at Bloody
River
Canyon, along the way.
 |
Firstly,
we visit these Pre-Colonial Indian Rock Carvings at Bloody
River Canyon, following which a
short drive takes us further along our Caribbean coast to
hike the protected rainforest sanctuary at Wingfield
River Valley. Here
we follow a giant loop trail, for a period of two hours,
using
walking sticks as we go and having
frequent stops for interpretation
and viewing. |
Initially
the group follows the banks of the Wingfield River and then
goes
back to "base camp", the site of an old sugar mill
at the edge of the rainforest, along an adjacent ridge, to complete
a two-hour loop trail.
In the cool
shade of this pre-Columbian Rainforest Sanctuary it is possible
to see Green Monkeys, Hummingbirds,Giant River Crayfish and much
more. A Photographers Dream! Your senses will never be the same
again! |
 |
At tours end we
celebrate with an island picnic at the site of an old colonial sugar
mill, followed by a brief description into the production of crystallized
